Release Notes: Version 3.5.0 (July 9, 2005)

This version adds new capabilities for event templates, improvements for internationalization, enhancements for researchers data, new functions for the status bar, better icons, an enhanced spelling checker, and many other enhancements and corrections.

ENHANCEMENTS / NEW FEATURES:

GEDCOM EXPORT:
1) Export of researchers can now be controlled: all, none, or linked only. All researcher data is now exported/imported.

GEDCOM IMPORT:
1) CHAR tag value "IBM WINDOWS" is now recognized.

EXPORT TO GENBOX DATABASE:
1) New Option: "Initialize Database". Set by default. When not checked, the exported database will not include the default set of places, event templates, source templates, flags, and other data records normally copied from GBXDBINI.

LANGUAGE TRANSLATION:
1) A language resource file for English (United Kingdom) is included with this release.

EVENT TEMPLATES:
1) Templates for Polish have been added.
2) Event templates can now be defined in the base (common) language of each language family that has multiple sublanguages, such as EN (English). This template would then be used for any sublanguage (ENU - United States; ENG - United Kingdom; ENA - Australia) that did not define its own template for that tag.
3) Existing databases will be updated to have their ENU language templates recoded as EN language templates.

SPELL CHECKER:
1) English (UK) spelling dictionary has been added.
2) New option: "Add Word List..." Prompts for a text file with one word per line.
3) New option: "Subtract Word List..." Prompts for a text file with one word per line.
3) New option: "Export to File..." Prompts for name of text file to export word list to.
4) New option for Main Dictionary: "Delete All".
5) Ignored words: added choice for "Place Names". When checked, capitalized words found in the Place Names table will be ignored. This works for multi-word place names as well.
6) Ignored words: added choice for "Individual Names". Any words that are names in the current database will be skipped.

FILE MENU:
1) "Check Links" now checks the Field Codes Link table for missing or invalid field code links. It should be used after this version is installed to initialize the new tracking features for all existing databases.
2) "Check Field Codes" added. This function will verify that records referenced by field codes in notes actually exist. No attempt is made by this function for automatic correction. The log file can be used to determine which notes need to be edited.
3) "Refresh Data" now updates internal sort dates for all undated individual events. This ensures the events are displayed in the expected order on charts.

MAIN MENU/TOOLBARS:
1) The "Add Record" and "Delete Record" icons now reflect the active window record type.
2) The "Add Record" and "Delete Record" tooltip text are now more specific in the actions that will be performed.
3) The "Delete all records in list" functionality has been moved to a new menu item on the Data Menu, and is no longer accessible on the toolbar, for a safer arrangement.

STATUS BAR:

2) Added "Current Language for Program" indicator. Click to choose among installed languages.
3) Added "Current Language for Output" indicator. Click to choose among languages with defined event templates.

2) The Event Template Preview and Witness Template Preview dialogs now show the output language.

3) An "Add Translation" button will appear whenever the language of the displayed template is not the same as the selected language. The label on this button contains a "star" (asterisk) and the new language code. When clicked, the current record is copied to a new record, with the language set to the selected language.
